Cabinets and Vaults to Protect the Radiographers from Radiation Exposures
A new technology has been designed to protect the radiologic technologists from unnecessary scatter radiation during exposure. These are the exposure vaults and cabinets.
This cabinets and vaults allow the radiographers to work safely in the radiation area even when there is a radiation exposure done. These exposure vaults are like large walk-in rooms made of lead and high-density concrete block to provide safety to the radiation workers by protecting them fom unnecessary radiation exposure. On the other hand, exposure cabinets are ususally self-contained cabinets with integrated x-ray imaging equipment which are commonly shielded with lead and steel to absorb x-ray radiation.
These units, exposure vaults and cabinets, are equipped with protective interlocks that disable the system if anything interrupts the integrity of the enclosure. Furthemore, walk-in vaults are equipped with emergency "kill buttons" that allow radiographers to shut down the system if it should accidentally be started while they were in the vault.
