Spread the Good News! Promote the Radiologic Technology Field
The enrollment for first semester has started two weeks ago. Unfortunately, there are only three (3)enrollees for the BS Radiologic Technology Program so far here in our school. I am really wondering on how to promote this field to students, especially to the incoming freshmen college students.
Radiologic Technology is a very promising medical science field; this was further discussed on my very first post, but for unknown reason (maybe unknown to me), most people are not familiar with this profession. Massive campaigns are done to promote this program and yet we only get small number of enrollees.
Talking about career opportunities abroad, Radiologic Technology is neve
r behind compare to other courses. Salaries for RadTechs vary depending on which area you are assigned; for instance, Nuclear Medicine RT's have higher salary range compare with Diagnostic Imaging RT's. Furthermore, we don't need to do the 24- hour monitoring of patients unlike other professions who earns the same salary range.
Do we need to emphasize that Radiologic Technology profession can firmly compete with Nursing Profession here in the Philippines? Don't they know that all hospital institutions here in the country are understaff with Radiologic Technologists (or RadTechs, as we're commonly referred to)? Aren't they aware that hiring for RadTechs are open in all Government and Private Medical Institutions and also for Diagnostic Imaging Clinics? Wouldn't they be glad that applying for this job can yield result in a matter of minutes? I mean compared with other job positions, you will be informed if you get the job in a matter of days or even weeks!
Based on my personal experience, applying for a job after passing the board exam was easy . When I applied for a job, through a referral from my former instructor, Eng'r. Emmanuel Y. Legaspi, I was hired immediately without much hassle. I didn't go through waiting-in-the-line-process as any other job application usually does.
So, what are you waiting for? Spread the good news!
