T – tube Cholangiography or Post-operative Cholangiography /Delayed Cholangiography
- usually performed following a cholycystectomy
- to check for residual stones in the biliary ducts that went undetected during surgery
- allows study of the biliary system in the post-operative period
- performed prior to removal of the surgically inserted T-tube
- fractional introduction of CM at 5 ml per exposure
- total CM introduced is 20 – 25 cc of iodinated contrast
Purpose:
- visualize any residual or previously undetected cholelithiasis
- evaluate the status of the biliary duct system
- demonstrate small lesions, strictures or dilation within the biliary ducts
