Temporomandibular Joint Arthrography
- is useful in diagnosing abnormalities of the articular disk, small oval plate, between the condyle of the mandible and mandibular fossa.
* Single-contrast opaque arthrography of TMJ , although relatively uncomfortable to the patient, it is easy to perform; it requires 0.5 to 1 ml o contrast. Before it is performed, preliminary tomographic images are generally taken with the patients mouth in both closed and open positions. Tomograms, are generally taken from the patient with the mouth in the closed position, partially open, and fully open positions.
